A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Alexis Howell, I am 20 years old, and I am currently working as a lead preschool teacher. I've been in childcare for several years and absolutely love working with children. I have experience creating fun activities, handling routines like meals and nap time, and making sure kids are safe, supported, and loved. I am CPR and First Aid certified, have my drivers license and reliable transportation, and bring calm, patient, energy to every day. I am looking to transition into a nanny role where I can continue doing what I love in a more personal, home-based setting. I'd be so excited to meet your family and see how I can help!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have several years of hands-on experience working with children in both classroom and recreational settings. Currently, I am a lead preschool teacher at A Touch Of Nature, where I care for young children daily - planning activities, leading lessons, managing routines like meals, potty training, and nap time. Prior to that I worked as a childcare aide at Tiger Care, helping school-aged children with after school activities, snacks, and supervision. I also gained experience working in a fast-paced environment at Chuck E. Cheese, where I led games and birthday parties. In addition to my formal roles, i've regularly provided babysitting for family, friends, and past students.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love creating fun and meaningful experiences for kids. Some of my favorite activities to do with children include: arts and crafts, sensory play, outdoor games, and reading together. I enjoy planning themed activities that match their interests or the seasons, and I like to incorporate learning in playful ways. I also enjoy doing simple science experiments, baking, or just going on walks. My goal is to keep kiddos safe, engaged, and excited to learn and explore.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part of being a nanny is building a strong, trusting relationship with the children and their family. Kids thrive when they feel safe, loved, and understood, and its my job to create that kind of environment every day. Being consistent, patient, and genuinely caring helps children feel secure and confident as they grow. It's also important to support parents by communicating openly, respecting their routines and values, and working as a team to provide the best care possible.

My experience with special needs children...

I have both personal and professional experience working with children who have special needs. My younger sister is autistic, has ADHD, and anger disorders, so I've grown up learning how to support her with patience, understanding, and consistency. This personal experience has helped me develop strong communication and de-escalation skills, as well as a deep sense of empathy. In the classroom, I've also had the opportunity to teach and care for children with various developmental and behavioral needs. I adapt activities and expectations based on each child's abilities, and I always strive to create a calm, supportive environment where every child feels seen.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I am not a nanny, however one of my favorite moments working with children is walking into the building in the morning and seeing their faces light up when they see me. Hearing the excited "Miss Alexis!" followed by little feet running towards me for hugs is the best way to start my day. It reminds me of why I love working with kids - the bonds we build are so special, and knowing they feel safe and happy with me means everything.

I’m a family oriented person that grew up with 9 siblings. I’ve worked with kids ages 1.5-12 as a coach for gymnastics. Sadly they had to close due to Covid. I’ve also volunteered as a Sunday school teacher at my local church for two years. My other previous work experiences are door knocker for a construction for the summer. I’m a senior and a online full time. So I would be free during parents work hours.
