Listening and empathy. We are, "adults," but we don't have all the context, we aren't in that kiddo's shoes. Sometimes all they need is for someone to be there and know that they are supported. As a Nanny, we aren't the parent, we are a piece of the puzzle to support you and your child.

During my time at Tripp Lake camp I was teaching one girl during free time how to start a friendship bracelet. Eventually three more girls joined to watch and learn while talking about their age group play, that I attended the next day.
I was helping another girl with making a sign for her team and she asked me to cut out a, "B". I thought she was asking about a letter, when she meant the bug! For the rest of the summer we would emphasized the letter B, whenever we would talk to each other!
