I think the most important part of being a nanny is your approach and how it matches with the family. My approach is very friendly but firm. I am naturally easy going and love to play and have fun however, I believe in clear and consistent boundaries I am not afraid to be the one to say no when a limit is reached weather its the third treat of the day or time for a nap I stay consistent because I know that structure is important.
My experience with special needs children...
I volunteered at a sleep away camp for kids with disabilities. I also frequently babysat a young girl with down syndrome.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite thing wasn’t a moment, but rather seven weeks that I spent working in Maine at a sleep away camp. I lived with a group of 9 14 year-old girls whether we were doing an out of camp trip, playing cards in the cabin, or having late night talks it was always magical, and we formed such a close bond.
