Leandra Burns
Buffalo$16/hr  |  < 1 yr experience
My name is Leandra. I'm 24 years old and I've been a flight attendant for American Airlines for almost 3 years. Due to covid, I have taken a 2 year leave of absence from the airlines. I have spent countless time with unaccompanied children, taking care of them and keeping them entertained on flights, making sure they get to their destination's enjoyably and safely. Being around children gives me so much joy and I've always loved being in their presence. I'm starting my journey in pursuing a career in nannying and I'm looking forward to finding a family to care for that's a good match.

South Ellicott, Buffalo$12/hr  |  3 yrs experience
Good Day! I'm a fun-loving babysitter. I simply enjoy spending time with children. I pride myself on being able to play and act goofy with the kids, yet still have them listen and respect me. I love taking children to interactive & fun activities such as the park, zoo, plays, etc. But I can also spend the day at home coloring, dancing, and playing eye spy. It's very easy for me to connect with kids. Keeping the child's well-being is something I take very seriously. I'm a healthy balance of an easy going/patient attitude, and assertive when needed. I understand the importance of my role, and I'm willing to take on that responsibility.

Asraa Hassan
Abbott McKinley, Buffalo$12/hr  |  < 1 yr experience
My name is Asraa Hassan. I am 22 years young. I was born on March 29th, 1997 in Anaheim, California. I first started working when I was 7 years young, which was also around the time when I first moved out to Buffalo. I have quite a lot of work experience, although, I failed to list them all simply because I felt like the most relatable position I've held to this job was when I worked at the Daycare. I'm a very fun & outgoing individual, people usually refer to me as the big kid because I will forever remain a kid at heart! I love love love children, but if you ask me if I ever wanted to have kids of my own I'd look at you like how my mother looked at my father when he told her he had 15 children before he met her, & yes I'm the 16th sibling out of 19! There isn't really much else to know about me, I always felt like my life was dull, but please feel free to ask me whatever! I'm very open about my life and please feel free to ask me whatever I may have not acknowledged in my profile.

The Fleming Family
Leroy, Buffalo$20/hr  |  2 kids
This position is mostly a mornings, maybe afternoons and possibly weekends. The primary need is for someone who can get the kids to daycare in the mornings so we can get to work. Maybe someone to help with afternoon pickups/after school hours as well as some service on weekends for adult leisurely activities. Our kids are wonderful: highly intelligent, mostly low maintenance, 2 crabby little Cancers. Our girl is 10 and preteen-ish but sweet. Our boy is 2 and definitely toddler-ish but also super sweet!

Nikki is great with our son. He is 3 (almost 4) and Nikki is basically his best friend. He talks about her all the time. Nikki and him play games, build stuff, play outside and eat snack. She's reliable, caring, and courteous and she understands our restrictions / limitations during covid and respects our parenting style. Highly reccomend. - Sean

How to Find a Babysitter in Buffalo, NY

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, PLUS, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Buffalo, NY

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Buffalo can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Buffalo Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in New York?
  • Do you have a New York driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
