Responsible for the care of 20+ little ones during my part time in a daycare. I worked during school hours as “work based learning” for more valuable work experience! I worked with food preparation, creative arts, writing and reading, and more!

Cared for and assisted with the care of 2 toddlers (Aged 2-5yrs) for 1+ years

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I really enjoy doing a mix of fun and educational activities with the kids I care for. I love setting up arts and crafts projects where they can get creative with drawing, painting, or making crafts that teach them and keep them engaged. If the weather's not too chilly nobody can go wrong with taking them to the park for some outdoor play! Running around, playing tag and just soaking up the sun helps them burn off some energy! And for a more relaxed activity, I really enjoy reading books together and telling stories, bringing the characters to life with different voices and getting them involved in the storytelling process!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I feel that the most important part of being a nanny is passion! A love for not only childcare but a love for learning and development. The thing that brings us together as a community is our younger generation. Regardless of our cultural backgrounds, our income and our individual identities its truly the one constant, and knowing we can shape the future minds of our world is so powerful and precious. You truly need to have a love and passion for the field and being that person is so important!

My experience with special needs children...

I have some experience working with high functioning autistic children from the ages of 2-4. The overall experience was beyond helpful in my own growth as a student and educator! Learning how to work through highly stressful and stimulating environments alongside them was so rewarding and important and working within that realm has allowed me to gain so much respect and appreciation for the special needs community and providing the support they need properly.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favourite moment I can remember is working inside of my daycare and going to the zoo with one of our newest students! She was so engaged and interested in all of the sights and sounds and being able to observe her curiosity has stuck with me for such a long time. Sitting with her and helping her gain the confidence to talk to her classmates and watching her become a helpful encouraging voice for all of her friends was huge for me! As a more shy person myself getting to help a young bright girl gain her confidence was so important and rewarding.
