Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I volunteer at a local day care from time to time, I have younger siblings in which I’ve cared for since they were born, one with special needs (Autism), I have three Godsons all of which I regularly care for on my off days. One being 5 months, one being 5 years and one being 13 years old. All with autism, and other varying disabilities.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I like making up fun indoor and outdoor games (Example: a small tent (indoor and/or outdoor) with the door open filled with balloons is loved by all 3-5 year olds) I like encouraging them to have fun (Example: Drawing, reading, playing with toys, coloring, etc…) while staying off electronics but if the parent allows, then the child may of course do so!
The most important part about being a nanny...
What matters to me about being a nanny and/or babysitting is that you truly care for the children. Make sure at all times they are not put in harms way whatsoever whatever it may be. You are responsible for someone’s child, a human being, unable to take care of themselves. I’d definitely put a child’s safety and health above their want to have fun. (Though that matters as well! Just is not equal to safety)
My experience with special needs children...
In my experience many of my close child family members (and at the daycare in which is volunteer) have autism so I work with them and understand them every single day. Along with children with paralysis, adhd, anxiety, ptsd, and so much more.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite memory while babysitting was when the three children (all triplets aged 7) decided to make their single mom a big diy gift basket with my help and supervision, we painted it, made loving and funny drawings and cards for their mother, and put inside some of her favorite snacks and drinks. And at the end of it the kids got to see how happy they made their mom when she came home as it was originally their idea whilst we were brainstorming. It truly filled my heart.
