I was a teachers aide my senior year, I tutored middle schoolers in my band class, and did volunteer work with elementary schoolers.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy doing outdoor and cooking activities. I would like to do park activities as well as things like baking and making little snacks. I have plenty of children's books and cook books that would be helpful.
My experience with special needs children...
My younger brother was special needs. He had high functioning autism, and when he was diagnosed I was able to work with him and help him create good routines so that way he would be less overwhelmed about his days. I was also able to work on our communication and help him express his needs and feelings in ways that were appropriate.
The most important part about being a nanny...
This might not be a nanny moment, but my favorite moment working with kids would be when I was a teachers aide for a first grade class. This specific instance I had made the class their own ornaments full of "reindeer food", which was just dry oats mixed with glitter. They all came home from Christmas break happy about how the reindeer ate all the food they put out for them.
