The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a nanny is about creating a safe, loving space where children thrive. I build trust with families through patience, open communication, and genuine care. Beyond safety, I encourage learning through play, creativity, and mindfulness. I support not just the child but the whole household, bringing warmth, reliability, and joy. My goal is to nurture confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked as a 1:1 support assistant with a boy with ADHD and Autism for 4 years.
He is the reason I carried on my career in Education.
I feel it’s imperative to hold a safe and consistent space for children who have any additional needs. I used my puppetry skills to calm him down from any upset and used “Zones of Regulation” to help him recognise his emotions.
I helped him with speech and language - liaising with his speech and language therapist. Making sure to keep the tasks fun and engaging.
I was able to assist with his social skills and at the end of the 4 years he had a small group of children he felt comfortable with to have conversation and play with!
I have also worked with other children at my art camps who have autism. Giving them the space to express themselves in art is a wonderful way to see their personalities come through.
I listen and engage and am patient.
I have also had experience in giving medication to children who need to take it at a particular time.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I looked after a little girl who had separation anxiety from her mother.
So we made a beautiful piece of art for her mum to come home to and for bed time we made shadow puppets and turned her room into an underwater mermaid cave! All we needed were torches and shadow puppets!!
