Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I currently work as a Unit Director at an after-school program where I supervise and support children of all ages, from TK through 6th grade. I’ve also had hands-on experience leading activities, helping with homework, managing behavior, and creating a safe and fun environment every day. Before becoming a supervisor, I worked closely with kids in smaller groups, so I understand both one-on-one care and group settings.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing a mix of fun and structured activities like arts and crafts, simple STEM projects, outdoor play, and creative games. I also enjoy helping with homework and making it feel less stressful. I try to match the child’s energy; whether that’s being active and playful or sitting down and doing something calm like drawing or reading.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part is building trust with both the children and the parents. Kids should feel safe, heard, and cared for, and parents should feel confident leaving their children with you. Creating a positive, supportive environment where kids can just be themselves is everything.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience working with children with special needs through my current role at an after-school program that follows PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). Many of the children I work with have different needs, and some have behavioral therapists or one-on-one aides that I collaborate with. While I’m not a behavioral therapist myself, this experience has helped me better understand how to support each child based on their individual needs. I’ve learned the importance of patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, and I feel confident creating a supportive and safe environment for them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments is when a child who was having a hard time finally feels comfortable and opens up. I’ve had kids go from being upset or withdrawn to laughing and fully participating, and that shift is really special to me. It reminds me how important it is to be patient and consistent.
