Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have worked with children since I was in high school, volunteering in my church's Nursery (ages 0-2) and Children's Church (ages 3-10) programs. I have taught 1st-4th graders at Vacation Bible School for two summers. Most recently, I have been working as a substitute teacher in a Life Skills class as a paraprofessional working with special needs children ages 6-12.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy baking with children, reading to/with them, and playing games (hide and seek, tag, board games, imaginary games). I am very active and love to run around with the kids on the playground and going on walks and hikes.
My experience with special needs children...
I am currently a substitute teacher in a special education/life skills classroom. I primarily work with autistic children and children with ADHD. I have learned how to communicate well with the children I work with, creating an environment that isn’t overstimulating, and providing a combination of structure and flexibility in our daily routine to help the children have the best day they can.
