A little bit about me

Hey there! My name is Lindsey! I am new to the "nannying" world, however I love children of all ages & have worked with kids for many years. I currently work as the Elementary Creative Designer for Journey Church and in the Fall Time I am the Head Middle School Volleyball coach at Franklin Classical School (both are part-time positions & coaching is seasonal). I am involved in youth ministry & have recently had a couple opportunities to work as a substitute teacher for Grammar school. I am always honored to have the opportunities to work with kids & teenagers in all environments. I feel like as much as they can learn from those older than them, we have an invitation to learn from them as well! My heart is always to encourage, serve & honor everyone I encounter. In my free time I enjoy sitting at coffee shops reading, writing, & catching up with friends. I love plants & always enjoy going to cute plant shops. I love community & doing life with the people I love!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Loving the child & family well!! Understanding, listening to & respecting the family & doing the best to honor the ways the parent(s) desire to raise their child. As a nanny, my desire is to my very best to support the family & care for the child/children. To play, laugh & dream with the child/children as well as help them to learn and grown as young people.

My experience with special needs children...

I have babysat & taught in Sunday School a 12 year old girl in a wheelchair. She was unable to walk or move much of her lower body. My responsibility was to carry her to go to the restroom , clean her, dress her, & carry her to bed. I helped this family as a babysitter for about 1-2years.

The most important part about being a nanny...

In the service I lead at the church I work at there was a conflict between him and another student. I pulled this one student aside and began to calmly ask him questions as to what happened. At first, he was very angry - then he slowly let his guard down and really shared his heart with me. It was a beautiful conversation. It gave me understanding & compassion for him & showed him that I am not going to abandon or leave him in the messy emotions. After I was done teaching, I took both boys aside & sat with them as we talked about what happened. The beautiful thing that began to unfold was that these two boys were hurt & they were operating out of their fear & wounds. I got to sit there and see understanding unfold in their eyes, to see grace being extended & them choose to love and forgive someone that hurt them. They came into that conversation incredibly guarded and left with compassion and friendship for each other. Its a moment that I continue to feel honored to have witnessed.
