A little bit about me

I am a step-mom to 3 children and have been a high school special education teacher for over 20 years. I have an elementary teaching degree as well as working in several daycare centers both part-time and full-time throughout my 20's. Working with children has always been my passion and goal in life as a career. My goal is to provide a safe and fun environment for kids and give parents the security of knowing that their child is being cared for by someone who will show them love, patience, and kindness.

During the school year I am only available after school hours and weekends. Once school is out for summer again, I will be available all day.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am a special education teacher and have taught for over 20 years. I have, over the years, worked with children ages infant-18 years through multiple nannylane positions, working at daycare centers, teaching students, and babysitting for friends/family/church nursery.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing whatever activities that the kids enjoy, with maybe running being an exception. I am good for a short race but I'm not much for jogging around the block. I enjoy puzzles, books, board games, cards, make believe/dress up, video games, swings, parks, crafts, etc. I've done a lot of shaving cream table art over the years with toddlers, dancing, and hide and seek.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is being able to give the parents the peace of mind that their child/children are well taken care of while they are away.

My experience with special needs children...

I am a special education teacher so I have some experience with children that are autistic, down syndrome, and those with ADHD. I do not have a lot of experience with children that are medically fragile or have a lot of physical disabilities. My career has mostly been with children that have learning disabilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite memory is when I was working at a daycare center with 2 year-olds. Since I was the only teacher with 8 two-year-olds, I called them all baby. One day I was helping one of the boys with his shoes, one of my little girls was trying to get my attention. She was saying "teacher" and I replied "what?" She stopped and said, "NO! You say what baby!" So I said "I'm sorry, what baby?" I thought that was so sweet and funny because it was a reminder that kids are listening to what you say and how you make them feel.
