A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Lisa, and I have worked with children as a full-time nanny for just over five years and as a certified elementary teacher for approximately 20 years. I have held two long-term nanny positions, staying in each position for about two and a half years. My first position was with infant twin girls who were three and a half months old when I started caring for them, and my second was with one child who was also three and a half months old when I started taking care of him. For just under 20 years, I taught preschool, fifth grade, and Title l Math in Grades 1-6. I enjoy working with children and provide a variety of fun, developmentally appropriate activities including: reading, singing, art, tummy time, activities that help develop fine and gross motor skills, outdoor time, and playing card and board games. I am patient, good-humored, and reliable. Additionally, I am fully vaccinated for Covid, flu, and Tdap.

In addition to my long-term nanny and classroom teaching positions described above, I have been a substitute teacher in every grade from preschool through 8th grade. In all, I have approximately 19 years' experience teaching in a classroom setting. For thirteen years, I was also a private tutor for students in grades 1-10.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to play with children! I sing to them and read with them daily. I also enjoy doing various other age-appropriate activities with children including playing games, tummy time for infants, arts and crafts, outdoor time, building with blocks, and pretend play. I incorporate a variety of fun activities that stimulate an interest in learning and exploring the world around us.

The most important part about being a nanny...

As a nanny, it is important to help children thrive by offering a variety of experiences through play, as well as being nurturing, attentive, and knowledgeable about child development. It is also important for a nanny to have open communication with parents and the children.

My experience with special needs children...

In my time as an elementary school teacher, I have worked with a few students who have special needs. I have not been a nanny for children with special needs, however.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moments are those that bring joy, a smile, or giggles to children in my care. Some moments like this that I've had in my nanny positions include: playing trains with a child who adored Thomas the Tank Engine, reading funny picture books together, and playing tag in the yard at a pace in which the toddler could easily catch me.
