A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Lisa. I am passionate about creating safe, engaging environments so children can learn and thrive.

Since February 2024, I’ve been the proud full-time nanny to a truly extraordinary toddler (2 now!) and his vivacious 8 year-old sister. The little one is about to head off to daycare so it’s time for me to find my next nanny family :)

I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2010 with degrees in Psychology and Mass Communication. I worked in marketing for years before I decided my real passion was childcare.

Let me help give you peace of mind while providing your little ones with the care and attention they deserve.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Besides nannying (and babysitting on/off for 20 years), I have previously been a camp counselor, a lifeguard, a tutor, and a volunteer for the children's section at the library.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love engaging children with a variety of fun and educational activities both indoors and outdoors.

Indoors, we can enjoy endless arts and crafts, baking simple recipes, building forts, or reading together. I also love doing science experiments, playing board games, or having dance parties. Building with Legos, solving puzzles, or creating indoor obstacle courses are always big hits too!

Outdoors, we can explore nature on walks or hikes, enjoy picnics, create scavenger hunts, or ride bikes and scooters. Local parks and playgrounds are a must! I love playing games like tag or hide-and-seek and drawing with sidewalk chalk. Meeting up on playdates is always fun. Love taking trips to museums and libraries.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Building a trusting, nurturing relationship with both the children and their families is the most important part about being a nanny to me.

As a nanny, you become a key part of the child’s life, offering not just care, but also emotional support, guidance, and stability. It's crucial to create a safe, positive, and engaging environment where children feel comfortable to express themselves, explore, and grow. Being patient, reliable, and adaptable ensures that you can meet the child's needs, whether it's through play, education, or simply offering a listening ear.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience caring for children with a range of special needs, including autism, ADHD, and behavioral issues. I am skilled at creating structured, supportive environments that help children feel safe and understood.

My goal is always to provide individualized care that supports each child's unique needs and helps them thrive.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There have been so many extra precious moments that it feels impossible to choose. But luckily, the first thing that popped into my head was simply HUGS.

The last several years, I've been working predominantly with babies and toddlers and their hugs have meant so much to me. Hugs help so much with expressing emotion, facilitating communication, growing bonds, and building trust.

Hugs as happy hellos, hugs that soothe and promise safety, hugs of celebration, hugs that can dry up tears, hugs to share and connect and show love. Oh and likely my favorite— those big hugs for upset, beyond over-tired little ones that can magically turn me into the comfiest bed ever and they suddenly relax, swiftly falling into baby dreams.

I am a 31-yr-old female professional performing artist and writer based in NYC. I hold a BFA in Commercial Dance as well as a BA in English/Writing from Pace University in Lower Manhattan. When COVID hit, I lost all of my performing gigs and became a full-time nanny, and have been loving it ever since! I also went back to school and completed my master's degree in Health Education and Promotion via PSU. Next goal is to get my PhD in Psychology. Previous childcare experience includes working as a camp counselor, dance instructor, children's theatre performer, k-12 substitute teacher, full-time 7 days/week nanny, and babysitting for many families of boys/girls/multiples, from ages 3 weeks to 17 years. I am very comfortable with pets. I do not smoke, drink, or do any drugs. References: I have been working with children professionally since 2010, babysitting since 2016, and nannying full-time since 2020. I can provide recent references upon request.
Ramie R. - Seeking Work in Long Island City

Full-Time Nanny Available in Long Island City, NY: Ramie R.

I’m a people person with a lot of energy enjoying a second career in childcare after a rewarding career as a trial lawyer. I love reading, movies, bicycling, travel, art, decorating, theater and the beach. I raised a boy and girl of my own, 15 months apart in age. I babysat as a kid and was also a camp counselor and lifeguard. I’m natural with kids and they respond to me. I’ve been called the baby whisperer. I’m caring, loving, smart, energetic, creative, patient, responsible, honest, dependable, trustworthy and reliable. Although I make the kids my utmost priority, I keep the house as clean as possible, helping out whenever time allows. I like to organize as well. I watch kids at home and also drive them to and from school, activities and adventures I plan. I’d say the most important quality I possess is loyalty. I’m fully vaccinated. I have excellent references and have become part of so many wonderful families by playing the important role of helping to raise their children.
