I think personally the most important part of being a nanny is providing a safe environment for the child to trust you have their best interest at heart and are there to help them and guide them in life. You are there to support the family with there needs but also grow and learn with the kids and be there for milestones and important developmental stages.

I grew up with a special needs brother. Growing up my siblings and i took classes on how to be there for my brothers needs, what to do , how not to react, practicing patience and understanding. When getting into the preschool setting this helped greatly.
