More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I am currently enrolled in a peer tutoring class for special needs children at my high school which gives me a wide spectrum of the different types of needs and just life in general.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
If I were to choose between inside and outdoors I would say I have a good combination of the 2. I definitely love to experience the outdoors and I know that children do too so when I do I like to go on walks, give piggyback rides, and or visit the playground. When I'm indoors I prefer to do activities like baking, watching movies, and or engaging in learning activities. Though these may be small activities, I've seen the joy it's brought to children's faces.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I feel the most important part about being a nanny would have to be patience. Every aspect of life involves patience even in the ones we least expect. With patience, you are able to gain trust, develop healthy relations with the child, and gain knowledge in the process as well.
My experience with special needs children...
My little cousin was the first person I ever took care of who had special needs and she was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. It was a blissful yet humbling experience and I have her to thank for I wouldn't be in the position I am in today :)
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was one that may be simple in one's eyes but means everything in my eyes. My little cousin is diagnosed with Down Syndrome so her learning abilities are slower than other kids. Although she has a disability, I don't let it get into her learning capabilities. I was helping her with her ABC learning blocks and she was having some troubles. She kept getting frustrated which made things harder for the both of us. Being a nanny definitely requires patience which was my key factor in handling her frustrations. With time, she eventually was able to put her ABC blocks in the right place and she then gave me the tightest and warmest hug. It meant so much to me because me being patience and her belief in herself gave her hope and confidence that made a key memory in my heart.
