A little bit about me

My name is Luisa (yes, like the one from Encanto, everyone call me Lu) I’m 25yo and I’m a live in nanny. Currently, I am taking care of 3 kids, an amazing girl who’s 6 years old and two adorable boys (a 4yo and a 2 years old). I started watching the baby since he was born on September 2021, so I gained a lot of experience with babies plus toddlers at the same time!
I’m fully vaccinated against covid (already in the 4th dosis), flu shots and TDAP.
I’m from Colombia where I worked as an English-Spanish teacher at an Elementary School (preschool-5th grade students) for my last two years in my country. My 3 kids love to learn Spanish words while we play together!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was an English teacher in 2019 in a private Elementary School in Colombia.
On 2020, I was an English and Spanish teacher in a private school in Colombia. In this institution, I was the head teacher of second grade.
In 2019 and 2020, I worked as an English tutor for a family with a 1st grader and a 3rd grader. Also with a 8th grader from another family.
Currently, I’ve been occasionally babysitting for more than 5 families. And I have a long term babysitting job with a 1 year old every Saturday.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

INDOOR ACTIVITIES: art, crafts, fine motor skills activities (use of scissors, pencil holding), coloring books/sheets, legos, magnetic tiles, read books, puzzles, go to the library, board games, cooking, baking, picking up toys, yoga with Cosmic Kids Yoga (youtube).
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES: parks, playgrounds, zoos, museums, ride bikes/scooters, sidewalk chalk, walks, swim at the pool, get toys dirty and wash them, water balloons.

The most important part about being a nanny...

is to engage with the children and create a friendly environment, where they don’t see me like “the boss” but “Lu is my friend”, while still holding boundaries.

My experience with special needs children...

I had a student with autism in Colombia (2019) but as a childcare provider in USA, I have not taken cared of any kids with special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

is when the kids hug me at the door when I’m about to leave and they don’t want to let me go, that’s my satisfying moment when I know I’m doing a great job.
