More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I started with regular babysitting jobs as a teen-ager where I learned how to care for young children and found how much I enjoyed it to the point of educating myself in all areas of infant and childcare. As an adult I worked in daycare for 5 years and I also cared for children in my own home as well as volunteered in my church nursery with infants. I'm certified in early childhood development including nutrition, age appropriate activities and educational literature.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Crafts, science experiments whether successful or not it still brings a fun learning experience. Any activity the children enjoy parks, ice cream with prior parental consent, imaginary play, dress up I always tap into whatever the child enjoys most to dictate what activities we'll do whether it's throwing a ball or playing with Barbie's I'm all in. I nanny for a 10 year old boy who loves to cook. {nanny brag} he amazes me with his skills in the kitchen he makes up his own menu,, shops for what he needs with my help, so we get in the kitchen and he cooks of course he needs supervision and someone to taste test for him somebody's got to do it lol. His steak is of chef quality along with anything else he prepares and he's doing what he has a true passion for with my encouragement.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Taking care of the family as a whole while providing a safe, educational environment for the children in my care. I'm also their biggest cheerleader ,advocate if need be, comforter, shoulder to cry on, vent to it's not all just about the kids I'm there in whatever role I need to be in. It takes a village is my motto. It's being there for the milestones that matter and I love to see even though knowing those milestones are taking us closer and closer to the day I won't be needed as a nanny any more it's also the day I've been preparing them for. Last but not least if I can make a child or adult for that matter laugh at seeing the sillier side of life I've done my job because there's no better sound than laughter especially a child's.

My experience with special needs children...

I have my own grown son with special needs he’s profoundly retarded, he has a seizure disorder cerebral palsy. hypothyroidism, and he lost a kidney due to kidney disease. He lived at home until he was 16 at which time the amount of care and services he needed was greater than we could manage at home so we made the very difficult decision to place Michael in a group home where he resides today and I visit on a regular basis,

The most important part about being a nanny...

It was actually on a beach trip I took with my nanny family. I enjoyed watching the girls absolute joy in the ocean splashing around and getting knocked over by the waves cracked us all up mom and dad were in the water with us to allow extra eyes for safety purposes. We also built some creative and fun sand castles but most of all built memories I think we'll all remember I know I will for years to come. But what really touched me was how thrilled the family was I'd be joining them just as I was to be invited we've maintained a special relationship to this day. There isn't a school play, function or birthday party I'd miss if I could help it.
