The most important thing about being a nanny for me is making sure that I am also making a positive impact in a child’s life! I enjoy being apart of a child’s village and seeing them grow into the person they are and knowing that I got to watch and play a part.
My experience with special needs children...
I currently care for a beautiful girl who has multiple diagnoses, one being anophthalmia. I am experienced in G-tube feedings, using equipment correctly for child’s therapy (wheel chairs, walkers, specialized feeding chairs, etc. I’ve also had 2+ year’s experience working with children on the spectrum as well as other disabilities. I was a peer tutor and taught high school students with special needs life skills (doing laundry, simple meals using the microwave, sweeping, washing dishes, etc). I am not currently practicing and waiting to renew my certification as an ABA Line therapist but am still well versed in knowledge regarding Aba therapy.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my most favorite moments with the family I work for is when I took my two kiddos out for a drive. Once we got back to the drive way we blasted one of our favorite songs and pretended we were performing in the car. We probably looked silly but we had so much fun!
