Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I volunteered for 4 years at Spirit Therapies. This is a nonprofit specializing in therapy for children with disabilities. I absolutely loved it and decided to major in Speech Language Pathology because of it. I have also been a seasonal nanny for 4 in the past. I worked 10 hour days and I adored it. Two of the kiddos were special needs and we had a blast all summer.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to do artistic activities with children. I think fostering a safe environment for kids to express creativity and independence is extremely important in early development. I'm also a nature freak and love to be outside in the fresh air, with he kids collecting bugs and picking flowers.
My experience with special needs children...
I have been a nanny for two 9 year old boys with autism in the severe category of the spectrum. Before I was a nanny, I was a part time volunteer for Spirit Therapies, a non-profit specializing in therapy for children with disabilities. There, I worked with clients who had chromosomal disorders, learning disorders, muscular and structural deformities, and nearly everything in between.

Am compassionate about caring for young children. I retired from the State of Nevada where i worked in social services. My job entailed assisting young parents with educational opportunities that would allow them to become self sufficient. Early retirement allowed me to travel and learn from other cultures.
