I love anything art related with children, art is so versatile as it can be used inside and outside the house- as well as cover more than coloring pages! I used to teach cultural arts, literary arts, fine arts, and even dabbled in some theater! The possibilities are endless!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I want the youth to want to do the things I offer them- not force them.instead of making a set curriculum to check all the marks, I want to tailor our days to things the child would like to do. I feel the best way for a child to grow and build skill is to expose them to things they would actually want to do.
My experience with special needs children...
I’ve been trained to administer and document medication, create a safe space for youth who need a solitary place to reset, how to approach youth who are having a tough time regulating their emotions, as well as communicate needs and wants for youth who are non verbal.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment at the youth center is working with the kids to create a talent show. I was a minor role in the creation of it as I let the children build the set, create the posters, and have full control over their performances. It was really amazing watching the effort being put in by children who genuinely wanted to be involved and not forcing them to do it.
