More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
My most relevant childcare experience comes from my work as an educator, paraeducator, substitute teacher, coach, and camp instructor. I currently provide individualized support to an elementary-aged student as a 1:1 paraeducator and lead youth camps at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium for children beginning at age four. I have also taught Health and PE, substitute taught across grade levels, coached children in sports and activities, and worked with younger children through camps and programs. Across these roles, I have been responsible for children’s safety, supervision, routines, behavior, emotional support, learning, activities, and overall well-being. I’m comfortable caring for children with different personalities, abilities, learning styles, and support needs.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love getting kids moving, exploring, creating, and using their imaginations! Some of my favorite activities include outdoor adventures, nature walks, trips to parks, zoos and museums, arts and crafts, games, reading, baking, imaginative play, sports, and age-appropriate science or nature activities. I also love letting children help choose and plan our adventures based on their interests. I believe everyday moments can become opportunities for fun and learning—but I also think childhood should have plenty of time for being goofy, getting messy, making up ridiculous games, and simply being a kid!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is creating a relationship built on trust—not only with the children, but with the entire family. Children deserve to feel safe, loved, respected, and valued while in my care, and parents deserve to feel confident that their children are with someone who genuinely cares about their well-being. I believe a great nanny learns who each child is, celebrates what makes them unique, provides consistency and guidance when they need it, and creates plenty of opportunities for laughter, learning, silliness, and adventure. At the end of the day, I want the children I care for to know that I am someone they can trust, learn from, laugh with, and always feel safe being themselves around.
My experience with special needs children...
I have extensive experience supporting children with diverse learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs. In my current role as a 1:1 paraeducator, I provide individualized academic, behavioral, and emotional support while helping with routines, transitions, communication, emotional regulation, and positive behavior strategies. I have also worked with students with disabilities and varying support needs throughout my teaching, substitute teaching, coaching, and camp experience. I’m patient, adaptable, and believe in meeting each child where they are while helping them feel safe, respected, included, and successful.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Although I haven’t worked under the official title of “nanny” yet, some of my favorite moments working with children are when a child who was initially hesitant or unsure begins to trust me, opens up, and lets their personality shine. I love the little moments—when a child is proud to show me something they accomplished, asks me to join their game, shares something that made them laugh, or gets excited because we turned an ordinary activity into an adventure. Watching children gain confidence and knowing I helped create a space where they felt safe enough to completely be themselves is incredibly rewarding to me.
