A little bit about me

Hello! My name is M.J. Winey, I am 21 years old, from Fort Collins, CO, and a senior at CMU pursuing a degree in Geology. When I’m not in class, I love exploring the amazing outdoor opportunities that Mesa County has to offer with my friends, specifically rock climbing and hiking. Back home in Fort Collins, I live with my parents, younger brother, and dog! I chose to attend CMU because of the location, the people, and the amazing atmosphere on campus.

I have been working with kids since I was about 13 years old, and have loved every minute of it! I have worked with infants to children around the age of 12. I love spending time with kids and am devoted to making sure they feel comfortable with me and have a good time while I am with them. I enjoy taking the time out of my day to plan activities and buy craft supplies for the kids I watch. I am an active adult, and I love spending time at parks and just being outside in general!

I worked in my church's daycare center for seven years! My duties included teaching lessons, interacting with children aged 1-12, planning activities and snacks, and cleaning.

I also worked at a S.T.E.M. summer camp for several years teaching mainly science courses to children aged 6-13.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love reading, coloring, and playing games with kids! I am a pretty active adult, so I also enjoy being active outside. Going on walks, or going to a park are some of my favorite things to do with kids.

I have no experience with special needs children, but I am not opposed to learning and acquiring the proper skills needed to work with special needs kids.
