I've babysat for a few families growing up. I volunteered at the children's museum watching kids and teaching them different science experiment's. I worked as a supervisor at Fiesta fun and ran kids birthday parties. I've also grown up watching over my younger cousins.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love any types of arts and crafts. Especially those we can hang on he wall or wrap up and gift. I enjoy going outside to parks or just to throw a ball around. I love to sing and dance around. I also enjoy teaching things I find cool, I know a lot about dinos and rocks 😅
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure the parents and kids are able to get to know and trust you. Learning how the kids are used to existing and working with the parents to ensure a familiar and safe environment. Making sure you know everything you need to about the different families. I think a big thing that can be overlooked is understanding you're going to be a part of these kids lives and being ready to be a positive role model for them. Treating humans with kindness, care and compassion at all times.
My experience with special needs children...
I'm on the spectrum, brother has muscular dystrophy and is also on the autism spectrum. I cared for him through my life. All throughout school I volunteered in the special needs classes and tutored peers. I have a lot of family who all have different needs so I've grown up learning how to care for those who require a little more care.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I babysat for a family with an 8 yr old boy n 6 yr old girl. I stayed with them longer than any other family I worked for. we spent a lot of time drawing, painting and playing cars. On my last day the 8 yr old had set up a fort and movie night and the girl put together a book of all the paintings we did. It made me feel really happy I was able to be a part of their lives. It really highlighted the "why" of my love for babysitting.
