More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked at Milestones Learning Academy where I was the Lead teacher in the Preschool 2 1/2 year old class. I potty trained, prepared their snacks, lunch, & prepared a curriculum for them monday-friday! We worked on the kids social skills, daily routines, daily tasks & help them prepare for that next milestone in their life!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Watching movies, playing dress up, arts & crafts, reading, water balloon fights, jumping on trampolines, dance parties, & making forts!

My experience with special needs children...

My cousin has the mind of a 7 year old child. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy & mild autism when he was a year old. He has a shunt in his head to drain fluid out permanently, he also has constant seizures & sometimes acts out & tries to hurt himself or others.

My current job also has 2 children who have been diagnosed on the spectrum & there are at least 5 that aren’t. Every day is a new day & a new challenge. Working there has helped me be able to identify different ways to help children with special needs. Whether they need time to themselves, a special calm down toy, or they just been a solid daily routine to keep them going to look forward to something. I’ve also been able to see when a child is getting so overwhelmed that it is hard for them to use their words, so when I step in & let them know I see them & I see their struggle, that it is okay to take a step back & go into that quiet space so they can recoup and come back.
