Kids need to be respected the same way adults are and when they realize they’re being heard, I’ve found they’re much more inclined to understand or listen when they need to.

My youngest cousin Kevin has a severe mental disability and needed intense care. It took several weeks but when he finally understood the game tic-tac-toe, his eyes lit up with excitement and it was all he could play for months it seemed. No matter how tired I was of the game, he was always ready to impress me with his new ideas of how to beat me and that shine in a kids eyes never gets old.
