More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have completed 16 ECE units at Fullerton College. I also worked for the PYLUSD in child care many years ago. I also have two children of my own 16 and 12 years old. I also volunteered at my children’s preschool one day a week for five years. I have coached my son soccer team, and the team mom. I also volunteer for the Esperanza high school entertainment unit as a Roadie and I am in charge of logo wear.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Reading, riding bikes, exercise, cooking, telling jokes, listening, homework, if it’s not too advanced, coloring, painting.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Listening and responding to both immediate and desired needs and knowing that my work is valued.
My experience with special needs children...
I don’t have any professional experience with special needs children only experience with a friend of mine’s child, and with one of the kids at the preschool who had cystic fibrosis and required breathing treatments at times, and always had to take medicine prior to being served snack.
The most important part about being a nanny...
This was actually when I was working with the PYOUSD. I had a boy in my class that was continually disrespectful to his mother upon drop off and pick up. I began spending a little more time with him and expressing to him the importance of being respectful to others but especially to your parents, because as a parent, we do everything for her children, whether they see it or not.
After About a month of spending a few extra minutes with this boy every day, I began to see a shift in his behavior towards his mother. Slowly, but steadily, his appreciation and respect for his mother and her role in the family grew, and it was a really beautiful thing to watch. it went from him, cursing at his mother upon drop off and pick up throwing tantrums if she would say no to some thing and slamming things like doors or books, too a smile on his face with a big hug and hi mom I’m so happy to see you. Thanks for coming to get me. And that continued on for the rest of my time with him!
