My name is Mandy and at work, I love to have fun, plan out activities and crafts, and get outside! My biggest strengths are my creativity, knowledge of childhood development, communication, and compassion. I’ve dedicated the past 5 years of my life to childcare, having worked with infants, through middle schoolers. I love to join in, and make every learning experience engaging, and exciting. My first 3 years being at a preschool accelerated my skills in lesson planning, quick problem solving, and having eyes on every part of the room. Through working at an ABA company, I’ve been safety care trained, learned how to identify the function of a behavior, and how to respond in a way that promotes trust, safety, and happiness. Regardless of the behavior being good, or maladaptive, I find a way to work through that makes everyone happy. I was a preschool teacher for 3.5 years. I started as an aide, working part-time after school, and full-time in the summers. Immediately after high school, I became a full-time 1 year-old-teacher. After a few months, I became a 3-year-old teacher, and ended my last 4 months being a 2-year-old teacher. I also worked some extra hours for the church in our building. I helped lead youth group during after school hours once a week for kids 6-13. I also lead the Sunday nursery room, for kids 1-7. I’m CPR and First-aid trained, and have my food handlers, all from the state of Oregon. Since moving to Maine, I’ve earned my BHP, and RBT certifications. I currently work with 3-5 year olds with neurological disabilities such as autism, and down syndrome. I have the resilience, patience, and empathy these loving children require. I’ve got oodles of experience, and education that I would love to put to use.
