I have been a teacher fore 29 years as well as owner and co-director for 12 years in Glenwood of 18 afterschool programs and Summer Day Camp. 2 years ago my daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes meaning her pancreas does not produce insulin, resulting in taking insulin shots with meals. Her first year had challenges causing in me stepping down to become her full time at home nurse provider . As a diabetic mom I have found finding a childcare provider to keep her safe is almost impossible. Although I am more than happy to care for all children as I love children and they are the definition of life I am praying a parent with a Type 1 child is in need of having a care provider as their walking pancreas. My daughter would love to share with a child who understands how living with Diabetes is and help support each other.
