More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I regularly help out my sister-in-law who's a single mom with a 4-year-old daughter at home. She travels a lot for work and I love being able to make her (and grandma's! -- also a single parent to my partner and his sister) lives easier :D.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoor activities: age-appropriate board games; easy card games I've noticed hold a certain novelty for modern kiddos (Spoons, UNO, Go Fish, War); ad hoc versions pictionary or charades; for very little ones, I Spy is always a winner! Puzzles are great; I am an enthusiastic doll attendant, too.
Outdoor activities: If there is a back yard or a park, I've noticed almost all kids like to pretend to be fairies -- really just a way to point out interesting aspects of nature. Treasure hunts are fun, too, and any backyard sport or activity that a kid needs an opponent for... I am always happy to be on my feet for a game of softball, soccer, whatever!

The most important part about being a nanny...
I would say making a kid feel heard. Both in terms of their immediate needs of course -- are they hungry, tired, etc.? But also just validating their little growing POVs on the world. I find that taking a kid's musings seriously and just being an enthusiastic listener can go a long way in terms of building a rapport and creating an environment where the kid trusts me enough to listen in turn when it really matters, and have fun always.
My experience with special needs children...
My longtime roommate's sister has Downs Syndrome and I've been pals with her for 15 years now. I also have experience as a nanny for an Autistic boy (now in college) from ages infant through early teens.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Watching a pair of 5-year-old twin boys get scary good at Monopoly over the course of one summer -- it became their absolute favorite, and they headed into Kindergarten so excited about math.

Hi! I’m Michaela! I’m a warm, creative, and dependable nanny with 3+ years of professional childcare experience, including experience in a preschool setting and private childcare. I’ve cared for children across different ages, personalities, and needs, including children with Autism, ARFID, Cerebral Palsy, and complex medical needs.
I believe nannying is about so much more than keeping children safe—it’s about creating a childhood full of connection, creativity, and fun. I love arts and crafts, baking, music and dance parties, imaginative play, reading, outdoor adventures, and finding ways to make everyday moments special.
Most importantly, I value becoming a genuine part of a family’s village. I want children to feel safe, loved, understood, and excited to spend time together, while parents feel supported and confident in my care. My goal is to build a relationship rooted in trust, communication, respect, and lots of love. 💛
