More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I am currently a nanny for 3 kids (ages 8, 6, and 3). I have been working with them since the oldest was 11 months old. I am also a mother to a 2 little girl. Prior to being a long term nanny I worked at a child development center in Michigan for almost 3 years in the toddler 2 and infant classroom. During high school I also babysat for different families in my neighborhood ranging from infants to school age.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love being outside with the kids. The best right now is when my daughter and the almost 2 year old go on hikes together and explore the outdoors (hikes being trails run the suburbs of Chicago so nothing too extreme). We also love riding bikes on the bike paths. I am also a lover of self expression through art. So art and science projects are important to me to do with the kiddos.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing about being a nanny for me is to be able to work side by side with the parents. Having open and understanding communication about best means of discipline/redirection is so important. Being comfortable with the parents makes working with the children that much easier. The family I currently work with has become part of my extended family over the years and it helps knowing that I can go to them with anything I need.

I have very limited experience with special needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny moments was when the oldest started school (in a 2 year old classroom setting) and some kids in his class were like "oh Margaret", and he exclaimed extremely loud "NO that's MY Margaret". It made me feel like I was doing something right.
