My experience with special needs children...
I two years of experience working with children on the Autism spectrum and with other special needs. I was a clinical intern at the University of Michigan's Autism Consultation and Treatment Services program where I provided telehealth therapy to help children of different ages work towards social, emotional, and independence goals. As a Student Engagement Specialist I worked on the Behavior and Social Work teams to provide compassion and support to students struggling at school. Many students who I worked with had special needs including Autism, and my approach is compassion-focused and child-centered.
