A little bit about me

I am a Special Education teacher with a Master's degree in Special Education. A nanny position gives me the time and flexibility to give time to my family. Being a mom of two children with special needs, I also understand the apprehension parents feel and the importance they give to have a reliable person spending time and educating their children.
I am certified in CPR and trained as a lifeguard. I am a non smoker and have very good rapport with pets. I understand that being a nanny with a family is being part of the team.and as such on occasion I'll be asked to perform tasks that are not usually part of my work description but that are needed for the benefit of the family. I'm a good listener, courteous and know how to have fun with the children in a safe way. As a parent I understand the necessity of being responsible and careful since the families that hire me entrust me with their most precious treasure.

I have 8 years of experience as a Spanish teacher and a special education teacher. In Puerto Rico and the USA. My latest placement was with the Diocese of Savannah as a Special education teacher.

I believe in learning through play. For this reason I encourage my charges to participate with me in developmentally enhancing activities such as sports, swimming, puzzle and learning games.

Not only I am the mother of two children with special needs but I am also a teacher with a graduate degree on special needs education. I believe every child can learn and that as individuals we all have a particular way of learning. . That is why I create relationships with my charges so I may learn their individual needs and way of learning in order to tailor our activities to their needs

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was teaching a two year old to ride a bike. I was turning out to be challenging for him. When he finally went solo his smile was so bright. He was so happy and proud of himself it made all the hard work worth it
