Hi, my name is Marissa, and I would love to tell you a little about myself. I am a huge animal lover, I love reading, I love baking & cooking, swimming, spending time outdoors. I have been taking care of children since I was 16 years old. Some of the positions I've had were being a babysitter, a nanny, and a daycare assistant. I am currently working on getting my Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have also taken many classes on how I can improve the care and well being of the children I take care of. I have experience taking care of children between the ages of 3 weeks old to 14-year-olds. I love coming up with fun arts and crafts projects that encourage creativity, going on fun and educational outings like going to the library, the museum, the beach, the zoo, going to events geared towards children, and many more places. I also enjoy coming up with fun activities to do: doing science experiments, baking, exploring the outdoors, going on walks, and reading.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

*I was a nanny for 7 years with 3 families sharing my services. A set of boy and girl twins 3 months old when I started with the family 2016, two girls who are now 5 and 4 with another family 2018 and 2019 when i started watching them , and a boy who is now 4 with the last family 2020 who was 4 months when I started watching him. I would watch all of the kids together at the same time as a group.
* I also was a nanny for 1 year [phone number hidden] to a 3 year old girl and a 8 month old girl. The dad sold his business so they no longer needed me.
*I have also worked as a daycare assistant for 3 years in 2013 to 2016.
* I've also had experience as a babysitter and a mother's helper for over 10 years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading together, doing arts and crafts, age appropriate science experiments, playing with playdough, baking together, playing with toys, teaching kids how to cook, and playing outside. I also like going on outings like the library, the zoo, the beach, museums, parks, the splash pad, doing activities geared toward children outside the house, and storytime at the library.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is the well-being of the children I care for. I also believe in having fun, setting boundaries for the safety of the child i am taking care of, and doing educational things together. I think it is also important to give children space to process their emotions without being scolded as long as they are no danger to themselves or others. I also think it's important that the parents are satisfied with the care I give and don't need to worry about the kids being safe.

My experience with special needs children...

I do have some experience with autism but only with the child having high functioning autism. And some experience with kids with adhd.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My most memorable moment with the kids I watched, was when we made elephant toothpaste together and they were so surprised by it exploding out of the bottle and they couldn't stop laughing and yelling about how cool it was, and then getting to play in it with all the toys we picked out to play with.
* Another of my favorite nanny moments is when I threw an Easter party for the group of kids I was watching and they had so much fun hunting for eggs, decorating their own desserts, having a scavenger hunt, eating pizza together, and doing an Easter craft together. They still bring g up the party when I see them on occasion.
