A little bit about me

I am an ex Interpretive Park Ranger with an abundance of knowledge of the outdoors that I would love to share with your children! I have worked with infants, toddlers, kids and teens alike. I have done babysitting for a number of years as a teenager and college student. But since then I have worked in outdoor educational settings, summer camps, and day care services. I am well versed around how to keep children entertained with enrichment, how to be food safe, and can create daily schedules for your child to keep a solid structure of creativity and education in their day to day life.

I as a person enjoy hiking, paddle boarding, playing guitar, drawing, board games, gardening, and traveling, and volunteering for the Ventura land trust.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was an instructor and camp director at Campfire Wilani outdoor school and summer camp. I worked with ages 9-18

I worked as an Interpretive Park Ranger at Moran state park doing jr. Ranger programs, going into schools and teaching about ecology, and subjects alike for ages 3-100+.

I have worked at a day care for ages 4-9 as a lead teacher focused on behavior management, social skills development, communication management, and building a structured routine for children including: snack time, enrichment, education, creative activities, and daily field trips.

I have worked as a baby sitter for many years thought my teen years and college years. I have worked with infants ages 11 months -2years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy drawing with children, showing them how to do origami, playing music for them on my guitar, taking time to learn what their coping strategies are to learn how to best comfort them in times of stress. I enjoy art projects such as pressing flowers, and making nature journals. I enjoy taking kids on field trips to the park, going on hikes, playing sports like soccer, basketball, or catch. I enjoy teaching them about the natural world.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny to me is creating a bond with the children, making them feel heard and seen, making sure they are having fun and feel safe and most of all trust me.

My experience with special needs children...

My best friend growing up had a brother with special needs, we communicated through sign language, and I would often watch him eat as he could choke on his food, I spent a lot of time around his care takers and learned strategies that I’ve carried on with me today as I work with children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment with children would have to be when I was doing regular jr. Ranger programs as a park ranger and I had two kids that came by every weekend for every event I had going on. They would beg their parents to come see me, and they would “assist me” throughout the program. They would make other kids laugh by demonstrating how to participate in my program, they would do what they could to earn extra badges or prizes from me, and they would always offer to help me put away my program and beg for me to play with them at the park after I got off work. They were very sweet girls with a lot of passion for the parks.
