More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked as a paraprofessional in a behavioral skills class and worked as a supervising residential advisor in a residential treatment center. I currently work with a 5 and 8 year old in the evenings. I have most recently worked with a 9 month old until she turned 22 months with the occasional nanny share with a 2 month old and before that worked with a 5 month old boy until he turned 20 months and got into daycare.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy being outdoors, so many of my activities are based on age appropriate outdoors activities. With the 8 year old I currently watch in the afternoons, I will often go to a field and play golf or play basketball in his driveway. However, his sister prefers to play inside. Often with her I will build forts and play family or Barbie.
I love taking babies to story time at the library and occasionally will stop at a coffee shop with them and have little chats. Their favorite part tends to be sitting outside and seeing all the trucks driving past as well as signing coffee and trying to convince me that kids can have coffee.
Going to the park is a huge yes for me, especially when you can find one that has other kids their age around.
I also love taking kids swimming (I was on swim team from age 4-15 at which point I started diving instead), reading books, teaching letters, going on little hikes, and rock climbing.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I find the most important part of being a nanny to be modeling the behavior you expect from them. If you want a healthy child, you have to model what healthy looks like. I have occasionally worked with parents who are prone to yelling, so it is extra pertinent for me to model a calm tone, taking a breath when frustrated, and other skills you can use to cope with feeling frustrated without yelling.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with autistic children in a residential treatment center and in a classroom setting. I have also worked with children with ODD, OCD, ADHD, depression, and anxiety. I find that rapport in these situations is of even greater importance.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment is that I often use larger words than most kids know, but then teach them what it means. So when I was watching the then 4 year old, I had taught her capable and used it 3 times in the week prior. Her older brother was climbing a tree and she looked at me and said “Mary, he is so capable isn’t he?” I definitely started crying because it was so cute.

Part-Time Child Care Provider Available in Boulder, CO: Lauren F.
Hi my name is Lauren. I am a former student at Naropa University in Boulder. I’m taking a leave of absence to figure out what it is I really want to do as a career after attempting online school for a little over a year now. Back at home I worked at my local synagogue as a teacher's assistant for four years and have experience with newborns to preteens. I also have experience with kids with special needs (high functioning autism). I also worked at a day camp the summer of 2019 so I know how to keep kids occupied for a long time without technology. I love animals and I'm not allergic to any.
