I’ve been with a family for close to 6 years now, started with one child who was 7 months, she is now 6 and has a younger sister that is 3 and a 16month old brother! The 3 year old has a genetic disorder so I have experience with children of wide ranges of developmental abilities and wide range of ages and have gone through many stages with them.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Outdoor playgrounds, trampoline parks, gymnastic classes, ballet, music classes, swim lessons, sledding, skiing. I could go on! I’ve done many things and love bringing the kids to do stuff to stay active. I also LOVE crafts and drawing, I always try to incorporate learning into most the activities especially the crafts. Supporting active imaginations is so important to me, a little bit of whimsy never hurt anybody, and kids make up such good stories.
My experience with special needs children...
Worked with a child for four years with a genetic disorder, she was developmentally and physically delayed. I was with her since she was born and have seen it all and been through it all with her. I was very involved with her varying appointments whether it be PT, OT and even occasionally doctors appointments. I was around for everything so I felt very comfortable relaying information from parents to providers and vice versa and was more than happy to implement learned techniques with the child!
