I have had many volunteer opportunities to work with kids, including through programs like AWANAs, VBS, summer camps, and Joni & Friends. I have also babysat for many years for families affected by disability and for those with one to four children.
My experience with special needs children...
I have volunteered for Joni & Friends family camps for the last six years. This involved me being a one-on-one buddy to a child with disabilities for a week. I assist with feeding, playing, socializing, swimming, and whatever summer camp activities are available. Additionally, I have provided respite care on occasion for children with disabilities.
