More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a teacher at The Child Study Center at The University of Montevallo caring for children ages 2-5 for 4 years.

I Nanny’d for a large family farm in Chilton County with 2 special needs children, 3 adopted children for 5 years. I currently Nanny for an 18 month old girl who is full of life and I love her dearly!

I have started getting my Master’s in Community Counseling and have been a Wilderness Therapist for Turnabout Ranch in Escalante, UT and JH Ranch in California working with troubled teens. I also have experience working with ADHD, ADD, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, Anger Displacement, ODD, EID, Bipolar, Conduct Disorder, Depressive Disorder and other Behavioral Mental Health Disorders.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Playgrounds, water parks, pools, exploring in the woods, make-believe, hikes, arts-n-crafts, riding bikes, movies, put-put, go-carts, dress-up, coloring, hide-and-go-seek, cooking, dolls/Barbie’s, games, camping, reading, adventure, I-Spy

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a positive encouraging influence in their life that gets to sow so much love, patience, and understanding into their lives. I’m always cheering them on and hoping for the best things to come so they can be a success in this life. Also, helping them process and manage emotions when things don’t go their way. I think children need to practice how to handle disappointments and success at an early age to be better equipped for a well balanced life.

My experience with special needs children...

15 years being a Nanny to two special needs children.

Also have worked with children on the spectrum of Autism, ADHD, anger and aggressive issues, and troubled teens.

I have Nanny’d for kids of all ages as well as been a teacher at a Child Study Center on campus at University of Montevallo. I’ve also been a teacher at a Montessori school in 2002.

I was getting my Masters in Counseling to become a wilderness therapist for teens. I have a special place in my heart to work with kids of all ages.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was picking up the “littles” from school, and when I went to the classroom, the little girl I was picking up ran towards me and yelled “yayyyyy, it’s Meme day!!” And she had drawn a picture of her family including me off to the side with “meme” above my drawing. It warmed my heart and gave me a chuckle😂!
