I have held the position of supervisor and children’s ministry director at two churches. Another interesting bit of information about me… growing up my parents fostered children. There were many that came to live in our home, the most at one time being 7. As the oldest I often took the role of caring for the kids while my mom managed the family business. From changing diapers to performing the Heimlich maneuver my experience is diverse. Two prominent things I learned from that season are: fostering is about family, so supporting the parents is as important as supporting the kids. They are ideally synonymous. I also took away that those underdeveloped because of neglect can grow in leaps and bounds when given the love and attention they so deserve.
