A little bit about me

I started babysitting at age 10. I watched 10 kids at one time ranging from the ages of 1 month old up to 8 years old and even triplets. Then i was a stay-at-home mom until my girls were 5 and 6 years old. I've always baby-sat for all of our neighbors. When ever I'm around my nieces and nephews or any kids I become a "big kid" myself. I believe that if you join in on the fun by making up games and playing with them, the kids tend to trust you a little bit more and before you know it you've now became their best friend.

I volunteered at my church to work in the nursery and kindergarten bible class. I have cared for out-of-state families at their casino hotel suites.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Call me old school but I don't like kids playing on electronics. I'd rather play a board game, put together a puzzle or do arts and crafts.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I feel that the most important thing about being a nanny is that you make the parents feel completely at ease and comfortable with you caring for their child/children by communicating with them through random pics and videos throughout the night of all the activities that you have set-up for their children.

My experience with special needs children...

My niece has autism. She likes her routine and prefers to be alone or in small group settings. When I'm with her I must keep to her normal routine so that it doesn't throw off her mood. I have to explain thoroughly what we are doing for the day and when or else she gets very confused and impatient.

My nephew has ADHD. He is very hyperactive, has out bursts and anger issues. I have to slow him down by giving him structural activities that will stimulate his mind to keep him seated and occupy his hands so he won't want to get up and run around.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I'm such a big kid at heart. I enjoy playing games with the kids and being part of their world. When I have built a trust and bond with a child and I get to see them grow into their own little independent personality; it brings me joy knowing that I touched a part of their life.
