A little bit about me

I am Mercy Cain, a retired teacher from the Philippines. After a long fulfilling career as an elementary grade teacher retirement brought a deep sense of accomplishment and a passion for education that never faded. Missing the daily joy of co tributing to a child's growth and development became apparent.
During the timeteaching different grade levels, experience was gained in classroom management, creating an encouraging learning environment, and adapting to different learning styles. The most rewarding aspect was working with the grade one children- seeing their excitement for learning and building foundational skills. This led to seeking a new role specially within Early Childhood Education.
Now the goal is to apply experience in a supportive role a Nanny or a babysitter
This position will allow direct involvement in the most crucial stages of development. There is excitement to provide a caring, patient, presence for toddlers as the explore their world. I love children.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I had been cared for my first grandson and granddaughter but I didn't ask for payments, since they are part of my family. I love them both. I tutored them to speak Visayan, Tagalog and translated them in simple English language. I thought them Mathematics, Science, Reading and Writing. Now, they are all with high honors in Elementary. My granddaughter had always win different competition such us Draw and Tell, Story Reading, Story Telling, declaimation and Dancing. While my grandson also had always win in Puzzle Game , Tower building, Oratory contest, and etc. Now, he is learning piano lesson and always excel in their class .

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Indoor activities for kids include building forts, playing board games, and doing crafts like making slime or doing puzzles. Outdoor activities are often more active and can involve playing sports, going for bike rides nature walks, or playing games like tag or hopscotch.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a Nany of my own grandchildren, is staying informed, creating a safe environment, sticking to routines, engaging in meaningful activities, and keeping communication open with the parents , I feel N ot only be a great Nanny but also a cherished part of my grandchildren lives.

My experience with special needs children...

Throwback my experience during my teaching in elementary. I have one special child pupil the Hearing Impered and Mute pupil. I approached him with patience,empathy and understanding that his needs and behaviors vary greatly. I avoid making assumptions about his well-being, as he have difficulty communicating. He often communicate me with sign language. I adapted teaching method to meet his needs. I praise him if he could give the right answer of my questions to build confidence and motivation for him and myself. I redirected negative behaviors, using sign language and offered support for him when he stopped writing in the middle of the exam. I prioritized with his special needs, like practice self -care, take breaks, and seek support from my colleagues or supervisor to manage stress and prevent burnout.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Moment of connection, such as when my grandchildren said " thank you grandma for teaching us in many ways."
When I witnessed my grandchildren master a new skill that we have been working together.
Moment of shared creativity and fun, such as Staging a Talent Show for an audience of stuffed animals and making fruit salad together and enjoy eating it together.
