A little bit about me

Hi, I'm Miasol Yara!
I'm the second eldest in a family of 4 wild, homeschooled kids who I helped care for in my childhood. Since middle school, I've been hired by 20+ families to babysit/nanny children ranging from newborns to preteens. My experience covers baby/toddler care, nap/nighttime routines, after school care, tidying, pet care, transportation, and cooking meals. I've cared for children with special needs, including daily medication administration. I've worked teaching music to children between the ages of 4-18 for a similar amount of time. My nannying style values patience, keeping consistent boundaries for mental and physical wellbeing, and encouraging creative play (I energetically partake- Some children have kindly referred to me as Mary Poppins!). My passion is to help kids grow healthily and happily, and I have done so for over 75 in my time teaching and providing childcare. I'm a UNC Chapel Hill graduate who teaches music in the afternoons, looking for a morning job!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

As stated in my bio, for the past 10 years I have taught private and group lessons to children between the ages of 4-18, primarily music (voice, piano, guitar, ukulele) but also nature and theater classes. I have taught for homeschool groups, community theaters, and several different in-home music lesson companies. I have taught all ages (even adults!), but my private lessons skew towards the younger students (Elementary aged or below) while my group lessons typically involved older students. It has definitely been helpful to have this experience alongside typical childcare, since with the littles in private lessons I'd often be totally on my own keeping them happy, safe, engaged, and learning while a parent was in another room.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I'm a musician, artist, and actress, so I am happy and well equipped to sing, dance, play pretend, and color! I have made custom coloring pages, brought my keyboard along, and even ended up adding music lessons at the end of shifts for a few families. I'm a big fan of the outdoors and exploring, so a trip to the park or a children's play area/museum is always an option! As a teacher and homeschooler, I will read endless books, entertain the limitless questions children have, and screen-free is great with me! If any screen time is permitted, I will only play programs with parent-approval and can provide under stimulating/educational suggestions.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The kids being kept healthy and safe, having patience, ability to adapt to different families, and keeping the parents workload relieved. If the kids are happy but out of their personal routine, engaging in risky play, creating disasters, etc., it will create work for the parents when they return home. There are many ways to create a happy environment that can be calm or energetic as necessary, without dysregulating the children or home!

My experience with special needs children...

I have taught private lessons to several children with ADD/ADHD, and Autism between the ages of 6-13. I have also nannied a 10 year old boy with Autism who had elopement and aggression tendencies, and a 4 year old boy with aggression tendencies and nighttime anxiety,

The most important part about being a nanny...

A 5 year old I nannied loved to sing, so I started to teach her voice lessons. She begged her mom to let her stay up late and come see my college a capella concert, and her mom agreed. She was so excited she ran up to give me a hug after the performance, wearing her pajamas and looking totally tired. It was great to feel like I gave her a fun memory, and I went on to nanny her and her little sister for 2 years!

I’m 27 years old always loved being around kids and interacting with them. The running joke in my family is I’m everyone’s unofficial babysitter because if there is a gathering all the kids gravitate to me and I’m watching them all night or for days.

Hi, I’m Sonni! I’m 19 and have always had a natural love for working with kids—little ones tend to gravitate toward me, and I truly enjoy building those sweet, trusting connections. I’m currently a nanny for a wonderful 2-year-old Monday through Wednesday, and I’m looking to add something on Thursdays, Fridays, and possibly Saturdays.

I love being outdoors, staying active, and creating a fun, safe environment where kids can learn and just be kids. My faith is a big part of who I am, so I’d especially love to work with a Christian family. I’m dependable, caring, and genuinely passionate about what I do, and I’d love to be a support to your family!
