Believe me, I know... the STRUGGLE IS REAL. You need someone who will care for your children w/ safety & love first & foremost, an adult who will relieve your stress, not add to it. I'm currently a social worker in Santa Cruz but I'm rapidly burning out & considering nannying again for a family who is a good fit. Let's chat!

I am a former stay-at-home mom to 2 brilliant grown daughters, a former addictions therapist (specializing in adolescents for 3 of my 11 years), & I'm vaxxed & boosted.

I live as sustainably as possible, I have a flair for design/artists eye, & I'm also a great cook.

I'm politically progressive, I'm not religious, & I love the outdoors, the beach, hiking, & exploring. I'm a well-rounded empty nester who stayed home with her children for over 9 years. At that time I also cared for other children off & on part-time in my in-home daycare.

I'm a fun, bright, optimistic believer in smoothly-running households.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a therapist for 11 years. My specialty quickly became women and adolescents. I counseled youth in the juvenile detention center weekly in addition to my usual clinic client load. My heart is still there but it was time for a change.

I have numerous character references upon request.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I believe that children can & should be a part of most of the things that we do on a daily basis. I love doing arts and crafts with them, painting, upcycling broken and/or discarded things, gardening & getting messy (followed by proper cleanup), hiking, biking, taking beach walks, and dancing. I love to cook with children as I find that when they help prepare something, they're more likely to eat & enjoy it. They also gain a sense of pride & accomplishment, along with the feeling of being a part of the family system that keeps things running.
I'm also continuing to work on learning Spanish & French, so I'm happy to include your littles in the process. :)

A BIT ABOUT MY LOCATION:
I am currently living in Seaside & working in Santa Cruz but am open to live-in positions almost anywhere.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are many: safety, the trust & comfort of the children, rapport with parents, accountability, and love. Kids need to feel safe in order to thrive, and parents need to know they've put their trust in the right person.

My experience with special needs children...

My grandson spent 4 months in the NICU in 2025. As a teen I cared for a tween neighbor girl with cerebral palsy.

The most important part about being a nanny...

At my little daycare, my favorite part was the lighting up of the faces when Mom or Dad or Grandma (whomever) arrived to pick up the littles and listening to the retelling of their day's adventures.
I've also been told I'm a great communicator, especially with kids. Both of my children talked early, both walked early, and both slept through the night early. They also both learned to read early, with my youngest entering kindergarten already reading at a 5th grade level. I feel that kids easily rise to the level you expect, as long as they're guided with love, boundaries, and encouragement.
