I worked as a nanny for over 12 years. I have also worked at child development centers for the military in many places. I cared for infants and toddlers most of that time. I have cared for over 300 children in the time I have worked both as a nanny and child care worker. I truly love working with young ones. I would love to be a nanny again.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing arts and crafts, working with play dough, legos, reading to small children, making different crafts with all kinds of items. I love to take walks and swim. I take children to the library, to water parks. I like to keep them active and not in front of a tv all day.

My thoughts on the most important part of being a nanny is the realization in knowing that you are caring for someones most precious gift. It is an honor to be able to care for an infant or young child and to have the parents trust you with their child.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for a few children with aspergers syndrome in the time I worked in centers. I also have a stepdaughter with aspergers so I know quite a lot about that. I don’t have any experience with anything else though.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I was caring for a very precocious 2 year old, who had a very large vocabulary. He spoke in complete sentences. One day he climbed out of his crib and came out of his bedroom and stood by the door. He said very loudly, Shelly, I called for you but you did not come get me. Then he ran over to me and gave me a hug. It was the first time he had ever climbed out of the crib. I was very surprised.
