More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
- I took care of my ailing mother all my childhood. It was just the two of us. My duties included bathing and feeding - if I can do that for a delusional adult, I can do that for a baby!
- I took care of my grandparents during their final two years of life. Medication management, transportation, entertainment, companionship... You name it.
- I also took care of my autistic husband for ten years. Emotional, social and psychological management were part of my duties. As well as housekeeping.
- I took care of a teen and a pre-teen, for a year. I prepared meals, walked them to school, and guided them through the mental maze of teenagehood.
- I'm often charged with my friends' children when we gather together (we go camping with our families often).
- I have babysat for friends a lot - specially for a 2-year-old girl and an autistic teenage boy.
- I am currently taking care of four children ages 2-10, as their live-in nanny.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I have many skills to teach and entertain children with, dear patron~
- Dungeons & Dragons
- Storytelling
- Swimming
- Dancing
- Singing
- Drawing
- Painting
- Fencing & swordplay (safely, with practice swords)
- Self-defense
- Climbing (if they're the right age~)
- Spanish
- English
- Development of a kind and ready character through the philosophy of martial arts
In addition, I have often been told that I'm the only nanny that plays with children at their level. I have water fights, play hide-and-seek, tag, have tea parties, play pretend, and all the games that children love to play :)

The most important part about being a nanny...
Is to know that you are changing a life forever. These are formative years that should be filled with light and laughter, with affirmation and encouragement... And a subtle nudge towards being kind, in turn, to others~
My experience with special needs children...
- I took care of an autistic 5-year-old boy with ADHD for a year. He was often misbehaving to get attention, and his mother told me that after a week of my tailored care he was a new, loving person.
- While not a child, I took care for a man with autism for 10 years, and helped him become outgoing, well-adjusted and successful.
- Also not a child, but my only parent was an alcoholic, and I took care of her all my childhood. Alcoholics and special needs children that have a factor of fixation have a lot in common~
- I took care of my grandfather with dementia for 2 years.
- I have helped people regulate their anxiety and depression, counseled alcoholics, stopped four suicides, and I have experience life-mentoring LGBT and autistic youths :)

The most important part about being a nanny...
Oh I have so many!
Tucking my friends' children in to bed. While I'm there, one begs nightly that I wrap him up like a burrito, carry him to bed, and play his grandfather's guitar for him. Two of their girls ask that I tuck them in and sing for them... It's wonderful.
My friends and I were camping, and they brought their two boys. They knew I'm a swordswoman, so they asked me to teach them. I always carry safe toy swords to camp just for this, so I did. It was a wonderful moment with a sunset in the background that painted their smiles with light. I think they'll remember that moment well :)
Also, once, I surprised a girl that I'd taken care of (pro-bono), for two years, at her birthday party. She was in the swimming pool. She shrieked when she saw me, and I jumped into the pool - clothes and all! To give her a hug. We then declared war on each other with Super Soakers :)
Every time my children make me cards or drawings, or bring me little gifts... Too many memories, I tell you!

Part-Time Child Care Provider Available in Seattle, WA: Tessa B.
I’m currently a pastry student at a local college. I’m the oldest of three girls and have plenty of experience watching my two younger sisters. I had my own summer nanny as a child and enjoyed all the fun experiences she alway had planned for us. I hope to recreate that same experience for someone else. I'm an upbeat easy to get along with person. Besides having a nanny, I was in Girl Scouts, and went to plenty of summer camps. I love art and history. I would love to help figure out ways to learn and be creative together. I also have experience helping kids with ADHD.
