A little bit about me

I have worked in child care for over 5 years and have learned so much from my experience. I will graduate this spring from high school with my Associates of Science and will be pursuing a degree in Elementary Education next Fall. I have been employed at a childcare center for a little over a year as a classroom aide. I mainly work in the toddler room, but I also float between infant, preschool, and school age. I have previously nannied for infants, preschoolers, and school age children. I love working with children and seeing the world through their eyes! I am certified in both CPR/First Aid and have taken a plethora of courses on child development, early childhood education, and children's mental health. I have been teaching Kindergarten and 1st Grade Religious Education through my church for the past two years. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I currently am a classroom aide at a childcare center specializing in toddler care, a classroom helper in both first and second grade, and an early elementary religious educator. Previously, I have been a babysitter, nanny, and summer-recreation coordinator and counselor. I have had many long-time babysitting clients, who's children are now exiting the babysitting age. I have provided care for children from 3 months to 11 years of age.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Working with children is extremely rewarding to me and allows me to engage in a variety of fun educational activities. During my previous nannying job, I created weekly themes and had learning games, crafts, fine and gross motor activities, songs, and books that pertained to the theme. Reading with children is one of my favorite activities, as fostering a love of reading from a young age helps children become strong readers and nurtures a lifelong passion. One of the best ways to do this is taking trips to the library and giving children a more active role in their reading! I love encouraging children to explore creativity through dramatic play centers, nature walks, sensory bins, and trips to the park. These activities all support cognitive development, but also emphasize curiosity and self-discovery.
