Reading storybooks, building with blocks or Legos, and coming up with imaginative games are some of my favorites too. If they have homework, I’m always happy to help and make it feel less stressful. I try to choose activities that match their age and interests so they’re having fun while staying safe.

One of my favorite nanny moments was when a child I babysat for who used to be really shy finally warmed up to me and got excited whenever I came over. One day we spent the afternoon building a huge blanket fort and making up stories inside it, and they told me it was “the best day ever.” It just meant a lot knowing I helped them feel happy, safe, and comfortable. Moments like that remind me why I love working with kids.
