The most important part about being a nanny...
Respecting that each child is unique and has their own personality. They need to be loved nurtured and reminded often of how truly special they are. We are honorary God parents. We are there to provide a healthy stable enriched environment for not just the children but the parents so they can focus on providing for their families knowing there children are in the next best set of hands other than their own. Sometimes it takes an outsider because although we love our extended families we have our own preferences of hiw we want our own children to be raised and it eliminates unneccessary stress.
My experience with special needs children...
I have a child with ADHD, A sister with chronic siezures, A foster sister with Autism, and my very best friend has several delays comprehensively. Working for DJJ i worked with special needs children on a daily basis with a wide variety of diagnosis.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Indulging in my favorite ice cream shop visiting my mom in west point, Ny and the the cashier started crying as soon as she she seen me she was a 9 year old girl i cared for after her mom passed from breast cancer and her dad didnt hamdle it well we bacame very close. Shebwas not allowedbto reach out to me after moving in with racist family members. She threw her arms around me i can still feel how tight she squezzed me. The feeling of pure love and respect is one ill never forget. We still talk once a week or so.
