I feel it is important to meet people where they are at. Everyone is at different places in their lives and development. So instead of dragging someone in a specific direction I prefer to let them take the lead and learn what makes them happy, sad, or angry.
If a child is throwing a tantrum I believe it is okay to let them feel whatever they need to feel; maybe with a little redirection to something productive. It is important to let them know that it is okay to feel big feelings they may not understand.
